Make sure that TV isn't going through constant temperature cycles - cold from the window, hot from the fireplace.You'll reduce the life of the electron tubes and they are VERY expensive to replace.
maybe you can buy a ready made mantle from home depot.
OK will make sure i move the TV when the fireplace is on
WE BOUGHT SOME BUG KILL WOOD WHICH I WANT TO USE FOR THE MANTLE.
